Back up 0.8 pounds. I am not sure why -- snack later than usual, water retention, new points system. Who knows? The important thing is that I know what to do to make the pounds go away and the program work. And so I shall!
Congrats to my friends Tal & Sera who have joined their local Y -- you're gonna love it! (At least I hope yours is as good as mine). The one thing I've enjoyed about the Y is that it's really a place for everyone. I was part of a gym once that started out great but then became more of a museum for saints and less a hospital for sinners (so to speak). And full of kids (16 and under) .... no thanks! The nice thing about my Y is that there are all shapes and sizes there. We're all striving for one goal: improved health. Sure there are folks over there in the free weights area doing powerlifts -- and there are others like me, over on the Nautilis machines on baby weights. No problem, no pressure. I like that.
So to everyone who is going for improvement in 2007 -- BEST OF LUCK!

I have high hopes about the Y branch here in Rincon. It's cramped, but genuine. They're building a new facility up 21 toward Springfield, which is set to open this Spring.
It'll have a pool and a bigger plant overall -- I just hope it doesn't lose its soul in the process. The West Chatham Y in Pooler struck both of us as one of those museum-for-saints places. My hope is that the Y in Rincon will retain much of what I liked about my old Nautilus venue back in Hot Springs. (I was perhaps my most fit in the mid '80s, but far from the famed "Nauti-Body" ... Bolivar, and anyone else who ever lived in Arkansas in the '80s, will get that reference)
Wish us luck. Right now it's mostly talk, as we've just begun. I hope this will be the beginning of a big change for both of us.
Goals: to make my brother and his wife, who we'll probably see again Thanksgiving, go 'Wow!' ... to be able to walk more than 20 feet without feeling out of breath ... and, most of all, to look marginally decent for my 25th HS reunion in 2008.
Can it be done? Only time will tell.
